A 55-year-old firefighter died while extinguishing a fire in the Lagadas area of Thessaloniki at noon on Sunday, November 10.
He participated in the work of the fire brigade, at some point he felt ill and lost consciousness. He was taken by ambulance to the 424 military hospital in Thessaloniki, but doctors could only declare his death.
The exact cause of the tragedy has not yet been established. A preliminary investigation and examination will be conducted to determine the conditions and causes of his death. The fire department said in a statement, quotes newsbeast.gr:
“Today, Sunday 10 November 2024, at noon, while fighting a fire in a forest area in the Carteres area of the municipality of Lagada P.E. Thessaloniki, 55-year-old firefighter Dikousis Paschalis from Konstantinos felt unwell and was taken to 424 ΓΣΝΕ Thessaloniki, where his death was confirmed.”
The trade union organization of the fire service of Central Macedonia “Δημιουργική Συμμαχία” wrote in its message:
“The Thessaloniki firefighter family mourns yet another loss of a colleague in the line of duty. Unfortunately, the list of firefighters who have died in the line of duty is long.”
