Zografou: fire in Polytechnioupolis

On Friday evening, November 8, a fire broke out in the building of the National Technical University of Athens.

15 firefighters, 5 pieces of equipment and volunteers are working to extinguish the fire. The office space on the ground floor of the building was on fire, where the rector’s office is located.

According to initial information, writes CNN Greece, a fire was started by a group of hooligans who first broke windows and then threw Molotov cocktails inside the building. Reports speak of hooded men. Security authorities are verifying evidence that shortly before the fire started, three people approached the building, threw something inside and immediately hurried to escape.

Two offices were damaged as a result of the fire. If evidence of arson is discovered, the State Security Service will deal with the case.
