American businessman Elon Musk participated in a telephone conversation between US President-elect Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.
About this reports Axios portal, citing sources. The conversation lasted 25 minutes. The President of Ukraine congratulated the Republican on his victory, and Trump in response assured that he would support Ukraine. On the line, Musk told Zelensky that he would continue to support Ukraine through his Starlink satellites. The publication notes:
“The new details from the call highlight how influential Musk could be in a second Trump administration, as well as uncertainty about exactly how Trump will approach Ukraine.”
According to Axios, the Ukrainian president believes that the conversation went well and “did not leave Zelensky feeling despair.” The portal's interlocutors also say that after the meeting between Zelensky and Trump in September in New York, the parties established a communication channel:
“Nothing that Zelensky and his aides heard from Trump and his team in private conversations raised alarms or made us feel that Ukraine would be the one to pay the price for this (war).”
Recall that Elon Musk played a key role in Donald Trump's winning campaign in the US presidential electioninvesting tens of millions of dollars and promoting the ex-president on his social network. Trump signaled he would reward his billionaire supporter, promising in a September speech create a government efficiency commission led by Musk in case of victory in the elections.
The ex-president said wrote then Axios that if it wins, it wants to create a “commission on government efficiency”, whose task will be a complete financial and performance audit of the US federal government. This commission, which should be headed by Musk, after an audit should provide recommendations for “radical reforms,” Trump added.
The billionaire himself proposed the idea of creating such a body to the presidential candidate during an interview on his X (Twitter) in August. At the same time Musk promised that he would work for free.
Trump campaign senior adviser Brian Hughes admitted that the former president's speech made little mention of how a “government efficiency commission” could work. But he added that the former president's words were “confirmation that Trump likes the idea and will work with Musk and others to make sure it comes to fruition.”
