The Guardian (UK). “Vladimir Putin congratulated Donald Trump on his victory in the US elections and expressed admiration for how Trump responded to the assassination attempt during the election campaign. He also said he was ready for dialogue with Trump, the prospect of which would cause concern in Kyiv and many other European capitals. Putin spoke publicly about Trump's victory for the first time on Thursday evening during a discussion forum in the Black Sea resort of Sochi. “What was said about the desire to restore relations with Russia, to put an end to the Ukrainian crisis, in my opinion, at least deserves attention,” Putin said.”
Putin congratulates Trump, commends his “courage” after assassination attempt, and signals openness for dialogue, raising concerns over future US support for Ukraine and NATO security.

The Wall Street Journal (USA). Putin on Thursday repeated Russia's demands for a deal, including that Ukraine must remain neutral and abandon all ambitions for NATO integration. Otherwise, Putin said, it will “constantly be used as a tool in the wrong hands and to the detriment of the interests of the Russian Federation.”
Answering a question about the future borders of Ukraine, Putin said that they should be “in accordance with the sovereign decisions of the people who live in certain territories, which we call our historical territories”suggesting that Moscow wants to retain the territories it has taken control of. “Russia is currently moving forward on the battlefield, and despite periodic statements that it is ready to negotiate, Moscow has shown no serious interest in any negotiated agreement that is not a capitulation of Ukraine.”
Bloomberg (USA). “Putin has given no indication that Russia is willing to make concessions to end the war he started in February 2022. He has repeatedly said he is willing to negotiate, while insisting that any negotiations will take into account the realities on the ground since his troops invaded Ukraine and occupied parts of the country's south and east. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said that any attempt to force Russia to quickly end the war against his country, as Trump previously suggested, would mean defeat for Kyiv. “It would be a tragedy to just end the war quickly,” he said at a news conference in Budapest after attending a summit with European leaders on Thursday.”
