The precinct in Dixville Notch in northern New Hampshire became the first to count votes and announce the results early.
This was not difficult to do – after all, only six people live in the settlement near the Canadian border. Voters showed responsibility, the turnout was one hundred percent, writes D.W. The vote count is complete: three voted for Kamala Harris, and three voted for Donald Trump.
Since 1960, Dixville Notch has traditionally opened the counting of votes in presidential elections. However, of course, the process does not serve as an indicator of Americans' preferences in choice and is rather a curiosity. It is worth noting that in the last election, residents unanimously supported Democrat Joseph Biden.
In New Hampshire, election laws allow towns with fewer than a hundred people to open polling places at midnight local time and close when all registered voters have cast their ballots.
