In Germany, a man stopped a train by running onto the tracks to return a forgotten backpack.

The incident occurred in Bavaria on November 2. According to police, the man stepped onto the tracks in front of an approaching train S3, which was traveling at 85 km/h from Mammendorf to Holzkirchen. The typist managed to activate emergency braking and stopped the train in just two meters from the man.

When asked about his actions, he replied that he had forgotten his backpack in the carriage and would not leave the tracks until he received it, since the key to the apartment was inside. The typist coordinated her actions with the dispatcher and allowed him to board the train, after which she closed the doors and drove to the Maysach station, where federal police officers were waiting for him. However, the man activated the emergency doors and fled along the tracks.

A Deutsche Bahn security officer demanded that he leave the tracks, but the man responded by threatening him with a rock and making a gesture as if he was going to throw him. The guard took this as a serious threat and retreated.

As a result, a federal police helicopter was scrambled and a search began, which led to the suspension of train services on the S-Bahn line, between Pasing and Mammendorf, for 45 minutes, which also affected the train timetable between Munich and Augsburg. According to police, this caused “significant disruption to rail traffic.”

By 21:30 traffic was restored. In the S-Bahn, the police actually found a backpack containing documents with an address and a key to the apartment. The man has still not been found.
