This year the maximum benefit amount has been increased to 1,200 euros. A decision from the ministry is expected in the coming days, which will determine the conditions for providing this assistance. The myHeating application platform will open in November.
According to the proposal of the Minister of Energy and Environment Theodoros Skylakakis, with the signing of the decision, the heating allowance will be increased by 20% for those who use electricity as the main source of heat. This aims to encourage the use of cleaner energy sources.
More than 1.3 million households will receive financial assistance worth up to 260 million euros, which will be paid in two stages. The first payment, representing 60% of the total amount, will be made in December and the second in April. The amount of each allowance will be determined based on meteorological data winter season.
Income and asset criteria will remain unchanged compared to last year. Income and asset requirements:
- To receive the benefit, the total annual household income, regardless of source, must not exceed €16,000 for singles, widowers or divorcees, and €24,000 for those married or with a civil partner filing a separate tax return. For each dependent child, the income limit will be increased by 5,000 euros. For a single-parent family, the annual income should not exceed 29,000 euros plus 5,000 euros for each child.
- In addition, if the applicant is engaged in a business activity, the total gross income from this activity must not exceed EUR 80,000.
- The total value of the applicant's real estate must not exceed EUR 200,000 if he is single, widowed or separated, or EUR 300,000 if he is married or has a single-parent family.
On the myHeating platform, which AADE will launch in November, those interested can apply to be included in the Register of Heating Allowance Recipients.
