Unemployment rate in Greece has decreased in September to 9.3% from 9.5% in August and from 10.7% in September 2023, while in the Eurozone the unemployment rate was 6.3% in August compared to 6.6% in September 2023 years, according to data Eurostat.
According to labor force survey ELSTAT, the number of unemployed was 437,648 peoplewhich is 65,905 fewer people compared to September 2023 (or 13.1%) and 7,615 fewer people compared to August 2024 (1.7%).
According to the Hellenic Statistical Office, the number of people employed was 4,262,924, an increase of 66,317 compared to September 2023 (1.6%) and 4,272 compared to August 2024 (0.1%).
Persons under 75 years of age who are not in the labor force, or “outside the labor force,” i.e. not working or looking for work, totaled 3,070,957, a decrease of 16,974 compared to September 2023 ( 0.5%) and 1,130 more people compared to August 2024 (slight change).
Additionally, in the 15-24 age group the unemployment rate was 16.3% versus 23.1% in September 2023, and in the 25-74 age group it was 9% versus 10%. Among women, the unemployment rate fell to 11.4% from 13.4% in September last year, and among men it fell to 7.6% from 8.6%.
