In a statement, ΔΕΔΔΗΕ said that the nightly tariff for households will be effective from tomorrow, November 1, 2024, until April 30, 2025.
The schedule will be as follows:
- 02:00 – 08:00 and 15:00 – 17:00 for consumers connected to the mainland and connected islands network.
- 02:00 – 08:00 and 15:30 – 17:30 for consumers on the mainland, as well as on the mainland and unconnected islands.
Consumers wishing to obtain further information on this subject can obtain information from their supplier. For consumers using the continuous time tariff (shortened night time), the existing hours from 23:00 to 07:00 apply.
Please note that continuous hours (from 23:00 to 07:00 all year round) no longer applies to new customers and remains only for those who already have it. Customers who have a continuous schedule can change the schedule and receive a partial schedule if they wish, but they will not be able to return to the continuous schedule.
Previously it was reported that the government plans to “move away” from the “night tariff”, since this measure was introduced at a time when electricity production was based mainly on thermal power plants. With increasing penetration of renewable energy sources (RES), the facts have changed: excess energy from RES during the day and low demand, coupled with the lack of adequate grids and storage systems, have forced managers to cut costs to ensure the sustainability of the national electricity system.

Now, given the spread of solar power plants, authorities are thinking about entering a “day rate”, which will be less than the night ratesince electricity generation during the day is much higher than at night.
