Alexandroupolis: death in a homeless shelter

A 58-year-old man was found dead at the EOT Alexandroupolis homeless shelter on Tuesday.

The premises are provided by the municipality for the accommodation of citizens who do not have housing. Yesterday a tragedy took place there, the perpetrator of which was arrested.

Since the morning, the victim had been drinking alcohol, after which a quarrel broke out between two “guests” who were intoxicated with alcohol, for an unknown reason. One of them pushed the “opponent”, as a result of which he hit his head on the window and fell unconscious. Being under the influence of alcohol, the killer did not realize the seriousness of the incident and fell asleep on a nearby bed.

At noon, other homeless people arrived on the scene, found the lifeless victim and notified authorities. writes CNN Greece.

According to the police, the criminal immediately confessed to his act and spoke about the circumstances under which he committed it. The man was arrested and will be prosecuted. Experts were called to the scene and a forensic medical examination was ordered. The alleged killer has been arrested.
