Commemorative events dedicated to the anniversary of October 28 took place in the center of the capital. The final chord was the student parade, which brought together many people in the center of Athens. Corresponding events were also held in Thessaloniki.
Favorable weather created excellent conditions for holding school and military parades. From early morning, citizens and guests of the capitals came out to the central squares of Athens and Thessaloniki.
The parade began at 11 a.m., shortly after the eulogy in the Archdiocese of Athens. Representatives of political, religious, military and government leadership took part in it. A wreath laying ceremony took place at the Monument to the Unknown Soldier.
Students proudly marched through Syntagma to patriotic melodies performed by the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Municipality of Athens. Each school was represented by a standard bearer and five participants.
A large military parade took place in Thessaloniki at 11:00 am, which attracted thousands of spectators. The event was attended by the President of the Republic of Greece Katerina Sakellaropoulou.
The event was organized in honor of anniversary of “Okha Day”. Lines of units of the Armed Forces marched in front of officials, including the President, residents and guests of Thessaloniki to demonstrate the power and strength of the state.
A large military parade took place on Meg Avenue. Alexandras, and its beginning was marked by a solemn speech by Katerina Sakellaropoulou.
