Israelis use Palestinians as human shields

Five former Palestinian prisoners said in interviews that the IDF uses Palestinians as “human shields” when they want to infiltrate buildings to avoid enemy fire.

It is noteworthy that the Palestinian statements were confirmed by one of the former Israeli soldiers in his speech on foreign television. The soldier said his unit was holding two Palestinian prisoners only to use them as human shields when searching dangerous areas. According to him, this is a common practice of Israeli units in Gaza.

We told them to enter the building before us. If there had been booby traps, they would have blown themselves up, not us. This was so common in the Israeli army that it was called the “mosquito protocol”“,” said the soldier.

Indeed, when he questioned this practice, one of his commanders said: It's better to blow up Palestinians, not our soldiers“It's shocking, but after months in Gaza you can't think clearly. You're just tired. Of course I prefer the soldiers to be alive. But the world works differently,” he added.

“We were in Rafah, in the camp. I stayed there for 47 days. They dressed us in military uniform, installed a camera on us and gave us a knife to cut metal. They asked us to do things like “move this carpet,” saying they were looking for tunnels. If they found something, they told us to remove it. For example, they asked us to move the sofa, open the refrigerator or closet,” says one of the five Palestinian prisoners, confirming the words of the Israeli soldier.

This practice of using Soviet prisoners of war was actually legalized in the Wehrmacht:

“Use prisoners and individuals from the local population for work involving danger to life.”

From a TASS special correspondent report dated November 28, 1941: “In one of the last battles in the Selizharovo area, our units captured an order for the 464th Infantry Regiment of the 253rd German Infantry Division dated October 20, 1941. The order consists of several points. At the end of it, in the section entitled “Special Notes,” the regiment commander orders the use of Red Army prisoners of war for reconnaissance of minefields. Here is this paragraph of the order in full:

“It is necessary to keep in mind the mined area. The use of sappers is not always possible. The battalions will have to fight on their own, without waiting for help. I recommend for this, as was successfully practiced in the first battalion 464 PP, to use prisoners of war (especially Russian sappers). Any means is justified if it is necessary to quickly overcome the terrain.”

From the 1942 brochure “German atrocities against captured Red Army soldiers”: “During offensive operations on the Southern Front, a number of documents from the German command fell into our hands.

Here is the order for the 76th German Infantry Division “No. 665/4P secret. October 11th.” In paragraph 6, which talks about the procedure for clearing mines of objects lying in front of the advancing German units, we read: “It is necessary to use prisoners and individuals from the local population for work associated with danger to life.”

In another order, for the 203rd German Infantry Regiment dated November 2, No. 109, it is written:

“The Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Army, Field Marshal Runstedt, ordered that, outside of combat, in order to preserve German blood, the search for mines and the clearing of minefields should be carried out by Russian prisoners of war. This also applies to German mines.”

Those who imagine themselves to be “superman” act surprisingly similarly in different eras.
