Explosives and detonators were found in a car that was stopped for a random check by the police patrol “Άμεσης Δράσης” on Socrates Street in the center of Athens.
In the car there was a married couple who had a pistol and several bags that allegedly contained explosives.

An Albanian citizen was found and arrested during spot check by members of the rapid response team in the car he was driving on Socrates Street in the center of Athens. He was arrested, as was womanwho was in the passenger seat.
TEEM (Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit) officers arrived at the inspection site and conducted a search and found that the bags contained explosives as well as detonators.
According to Eurokinissi, the 39-year-old driver was involved in drug-related cases in the past.
He was sentenced to life in prison in 2008 on drug charges, but was released in 2015.
According to information unconfirmed by official sources, his involvement in arson and explosions in nightclubs is indicated.
The investigation is being led by the Athens Security Unit.
