Athens City Hall has published a schedule of free excursions in October


Free tours of Athenstours led by licensed guides are returning, announced Tuesday municipality of Athens.

Starting on the weekend of 12-13 October 2024, the current schedule will run until 30 October in collaboration between the city's Organization for Culture, Sports and Youth (OPANDA) and the Association of Licensed Tour Guides.

In addition, two special tours will take place in the Pangrati area and in the center of Athens as part of the anniversary events “1974 and 1944: Athens Celebrates Its Liberation”, commemorating the fall of the dictatorship and the liberation of Athens from the Germans. Participants pay their own entrance fees to museums and archaeological sites. All excursions are conducted in Greek. The schedule is as follows:

  • Saturday, October 12:
    “RESISTANCE ACTION IN THE CENTER OF ATHENS, SABOTAGE AND PROTEST RALLIES IN OCCUPIED ATHENS.”
    At 11:00, the location will be announced additionally. (Maximum 50 participants).
  • Sunday, October 13:
    ANCIENT AGORA
    At 10:30, at the entrance to Adriano Street (maximum 40 participants).
  • Wednesday, October 16:
    ACROPOLIS MUSEUM
    At 17:00, at the entrance to the museum (max. 25 people).
  • Saturday, October 19 (5 separate excursions):
    KERAMEIKOS CEMETERY
    At 10:00, at the entrance to the archaeological complex (max. 40)
    ROMAN AGORA
    At 10:00, at the entrance to the archaeological complex, the gate of Athena Archigetis (max. 40)
    FIRST ATHENS CEMETERY, OPEN AIR SCULPTURE GALLERY
    At 10:30, at the main entrance, end of Anapafseos street (max. 40)
    NATIONAL GALLERY OF SCULPTURES
    At 10:30, at the entrance to the gallery, Alsos Stratu on Goudi (max. 25)
    PANGRATI DURING THE OCCUPATION
    At 11:00, the place will be announced additionally (max. 50)

    PNYX – HILLS OF MUSES AND NYMPHS

  • Monday, October 21:
    NATIONAL GALLERY OF ART, ANNIVERSARY EXHIBITION “DEMOCRACY” TO THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE RESTORATION OF DEMOCRACY
    At 16:00, at the gallery entrance (max. 25)
  • Friday, October 25:
    NATIONAL ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM, Egyptian Collection
    At 18:00, at the entrance to the museum (max. 25 people)
  • Saturday, October 26 (7 separate excursions):
    ROMAN AGORA
    At 10:30, at the entrance to the archaeological site, the gate of Athena Archigetes (max. 40)
