The European Union Aviation Safety Agency, taking into account the situation in the Middle East, has temporarily banned carriers EU use Israeli and Lebanese airspace.
Edition BB.LV reportsthat this was announced by the head of the operational situations department of the Civil Aviation Agency, Aivis Vinchevs. The EASA ban is in effect until October 31, but may be adjusted depending on the situation.
The decision outlined in the EASA report is based on the information available to the agency regarding the safe conduct of flights. In the light active conflict between the terrorist group Hezbollah and Israel, EASA has concluded that there is a high safety risk for civil aviation aircraft. It is increased by the fact that both sides use military-grade unmanned aerial vehicles and ballistic missiles, which are deployed at different altitudes.
The Aviation Safety Agency will continue to monitor the situation in the Middle East to assess whether risks to civil aviation are increasing or decreasing.
