The orange tariff for electricity will “come” from 2025. How it will be collected, and who benefits from it

At the beginning of 2025, it is planned to “switch” to orange electricity tariffat which invoices will be issued in real timeevery 15 minutes, and not as a daily average.

At the beginning of the year, it is planned to transfer to orange dynamic tariffs 150,000 businesses equipped with digital meters, then other businesses will follow and households.

Dynamic tariffs provide the ability to charge kilowatt-hours in real time at 15-minute intervals, and also the opportunity to reduce the cost of energy for consumers, as they will be able – as far as possible – shift your consumption to low-cost hours, which usually occur at midday, with overproduction of energy from photovoltaic panels.

According to the Ministry of the Environment, the ministry, in cooperation with RAAEU and energy suppliers, is currently preparing the basis for dynamic tariffs, which, however, will not affect household consumers, since a prerequisite for the metering and charging of kilowatt-hours in real time is the installation of smart meterswhich has been a strategic project of ΔΕΔΔΗΕ for at least 10 years.
