Riots in central Athens caused by man with knife

A knife-wielding man makes a frantic threat from the balcony of a house in central Athens to blow everyone up with a propane tank.

This house is located on Aharnon Street, near the Ministry of Rural Development. An inadequate man with a knife is threatening from the balcony of the sixth floor. The police, fire brigade and ambulance arrived at the scene, writes newsbeast.gr.

According to initial information, the man is Syrian and is alone in the apartment. He is threatening to detonate a gas cylinder inside the house. The Traffic Department, in connection with the ongoing police operation, reports that the movement of vehicles on Acharnon Street has been stopped from Marnis Street to Stournari Street, and part of the street has been closed. As a precaution, the authorities have begun to evacuate the adjacent Ministry of Rural Development and Food.
