On Saturday evening, September 7, heavy rain and strong winds in North Phthiotis and then in Lamia knocked down trees and caused extensive damage, and there were power outages.
Roads in cities turned into raging rivers, and they were also blocked by fallen trees. According to the weather station, rain has begun yesterday at 21:45 in North Lamia, and by 22:10 it had reached 210 mm/hour. In total, in a matter of minutes, the amount of precipitation reached 15 tons per hectare (15 τόνους ανά στρέμμα).
The rain caused problems with traffic lights and the lights went out for a while. Trees were knocked down in Diakou Square, Leonidou Square and Athino Street in Nea Ambliani.
