At around 05:00 on Sunday, a 41-year-old Ukrainian citizen living in Frankfurt an der Oder lay down in the right lane of the capital's Karl-Marx-Allee. This is the central avenue in the eastern part of Berlin.
A man was run over by an Uber car driven by a 51-year-old woman. She was so shocked that she sought medical help, BILD reports.
“The man was already lying on the road when the driver ran him over,” police said. “According to available information, the man was still alive when the accident occurred. He died from injuries sustained when the car hit him.” It is unclear why the Ukrainian lay down on the avenue and how long he was there.
An investigation is underway.
