An earthquake measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale shook Attica at dawn (03:41) on Friday, August 2.
According to updated data from the Institute of Geodynamics, the epicenter was 5 kilometers northeast of Kapandriti. The initial magnitude recorded was 3.4 on the Richter scale, recorded by the Institute of Geodynamics, but was later reported as 3.5. A different point of view is held by the Euromediterranean agency, which recorded an earthquake of 3.9 on the Richter scale with an epicenter 28 kilometers north of Acharnon.
Since the tremors had a shallow focal depth, they were felt in several areas of the northern suburbs of Attica, as well as in western Athens and Piraeus, especially in Peristeri, Ilion and Aigaleo. However, residents of the upper floors of apartment buildings in Kallithea also reported feeling seismic activity.
