The fire, which broke out in the forest area of Petra, between Varibobi and Thrakomakedones, was contained early in the morning.
According to the fire service, the fire broke out yesterday at around 23:19 (August 1) in a wooded area in the Agia Kyriaki area. 45 firefighters with 4 groups of foot units of the 1st EMODE, 7 vehicles, as well as volunteers arrived to extinguish the fire. No houses were damaged.
Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Minister Vassilis Kikilias posted an image from a drone that spotted the fire that broke out last night in his X post. The minister stressed that “the fire brigades were ahead of us and arrived at the scene of the fire on time.”
