In total, the 20 athletes competing in the 2024 Olympics earned more than $35 million last year, bringing their total earnings to $1.35 billion.
Interestingly, the highest paid is not an NBA legend like LeBron James or Steph Curry, but Spanish golfer Jon Rahm, who has earned a total of $210 million. The athlete decided to join LIV Golf, an organization backed by Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund, last December.
Notably, golf returned to the Summer Olympics in 2016 after a 112-year absence.
