How many hours a week does a Greek taxi driver work

A large percentage of taxi drivers work up to 7 days a week to be able to cover their daily expenses.

The profession of a taxi driver is not as easy as it seems. In addition to transporting people, a professional driver is called upon to solve… psychological problems of clients, cope with difficult situations, and also “ruin” their own health, due to sedentary work. All this is confirmed by a recent survey conducted by the Laboratory of Transport Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens.

Based on the data obtained, Seven out of ten taxi drivers in Attica and almost nine out of ten drivers in the rest of Greece work more than 10 hours a day and at least 6 days a week. In Attica, 65% of drivers work at least 10 hours a day, while in the rest of Greece this percentage reaches 88%. Regardless of the city and prefecture, almost nine out of ten taxi drivers work at least 6 days a week, with 46% in Attica and 44% in the rest of Greece working 7 days a week. Looking at the figures above, anyone can understand how difficult this profession can be, just to earn… a living.

The same study also found that Six out of ten taxi drivers travel between 150 and 220 kilometers daily in Attica, and about 15% travel between 220 and 250 kilometersAs for the rest of Greece, approximately 70% of drivers do not exceed 150 kilometers per day.

As for servicing orders, every second taxi driver in Attica takes from 10 to 14 orders per day. In the rest of Greece, on the contrary, taxi drivers serve about 5-9 orders.
