Senator J.D. Vance, whom Trump chose as his running mate for US Vice President, is a supporter of ending the war in Ukraine. Ukrainian media have already dubbed him “anti-Ukrainian”.
Last year, he and 18 other Republicans signed a letter to Biden calling for an end to “unlimited assistance”. And he threatened to block the following packages if they were not tied to a strategy for a speedy end to the Russian-Ukrainian war.
Before Volodymyr Zelensky's visit to Washington in December 2023, Vance demanded that the White House acknowledge that Ukraine would eventually cede some of its territory to Russia.
“We have a food crisis… We have an energy crisis… It is in America's interest to recognize that Ukraine will have to cede some territory to the Russians, and we need to end the war,” – he said.
The Republican Party has officially nominated Donald Trump as its candidate for President of the United States.
