The Greek Ministry of Tourism has announced an amendment to the bill, which will allow for the creation of staff rooms in hotels. The bill has been put up for discussion and a vote is scheduled for July 11.
The amendment, which will be considered at a plenary session of parliament next Thursday, provides:
- the possibility of creating staff quarters in the main hotel premises,
- conducting checks to identify violations by drivers engaged in tourist transportation,
- Possibility of renting parts of hotels for educational purposes.
This amendment, clarifies CNN Greece, introduced a bill entitled “Strengthening tourism infrastructure and tourism education, updating the framework for the practice of the profession of guides and timeshare rentals*, rules for tour operators and other provisions to strengthen tourism.”
*Timeshare is the right of one of the owners of a multi-owner property to use the property itself during the time periods allocated to him. Most often used in the real estate market as an international system of holiday exchange among co-owners of club-type resort hotels.
