Italy is considering sending Storm Shadow missiles to Ukraine

According to the Fatto Quotidiano newspaper, Italy is considering the possibility of transferring Storm Shadow missiles to Ukraine as part of a new military aid package. Delivery may take place before the end of June 2024.

According to the publication, the decision to transfer Storm Shadow missiles is part of a broad program to support Ukraine in its confrontation with Russia. The cruise missiles, developed by the British company MBDA, have a range of more than 250 kilometers and are capable of hitting highly protected targets, which will significantly increase the combat capabilities of the Ukrainian armed forces.

An Italian government source said a final decision would be made in the coming weeks after discussions with NATO allies and consultations with Ukrainian authorities. Previously, with the help of missiles of this type, the Ukrainian Armed Forces were able to hit several well-protected targets in Crimea.

The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that Russian air defense systems have already learned how to shoot down this type of missile. 4 days ago RF Armed Forces stated about the destruction of the airfield and the warehouse with these missiles.

Over the course of a week, the Russian Armed Forces hit several storage facilities with Storm Shadow cruise missiles in Ukraine. This was reported to the Russian Ministry of Defense. According to the department, attacks were also carried out on military airfields of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, ammunition and explosives warehouses. The Russian army hit workshops for the production of attack drones, places of preparation for the use of unmanned boats, as well as energy facilities that support the operation of enterprises of the Ukrainian military-industrial complex. Attacks were also carried out on temporary deployment points for mercenaries.

The Russian Ministry of Defense clarified that the strikes were carried out from June 8 to June 14. They were a response to Ukraine’s attempts to damage Russian energy facilities. In total, 19 group strikes were carried out with high-precision air- and ground-based weapons, as well as drones. It is not clear how successful these attacks were.
