Poland: "The Russians transferred more than 100 tactical nuclear weapons to Kaliningrad"

Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski, during a conference on the restoration of Ukraine held on June 11 in Berlin, accused Russia of transferring up to 100 nuclear warheads to the Kaliningrad region, located about 260 km from Warsaw.

The announcement came on the same day that Russia began the second phase of a tactical nuclear weapons launch simulation exercise involving Belarus. The Kaliningrad region, bordering Poland and Lithuania, has a strategic location and is a thorn in the side of NATO member countries.

Sikorsky stressed that the presence of Russian nuclear warheads in the region “increases the possibility of a successful surprise attack on the European Union,” especially given Belarus’ close alliance with Russia.
