Greek consumers and businesses are losing 300 million euros per year, buying adulterated fuel for your cars and heating appliances.
Smugglers extract from our pockets on average at least 40 euros per car per year, or 3 euros per filling at a gas station, for scarce quantities or for dangerous chemical additives that they put in car tanks and household tanks.
It is worth noting that the amount 300 million euros corresponds to the heating allowance that will be given to households this year… Almost two thirds of what ends up in the pockets of smugglers are taxes that the government loses and which consumers pay again through increases in other taxes.
2023 ended with a negative record for fuel adulteration! In the first 10 months of last year, 621 tons of counterfeit and smuggled products were seized just before they went on sale. It’s almost five times morethan was revealed for the entire last year. This was seized, but how much of this fuel was sold?
