Greek police special operations ΕΛ.ΑΣ. held over two days, December 1 and 2, in the Athens districts of Kallithea, Acropolis, Nea Smyrni, Maroussi, Heraklion, Nea Ionia, Chalandri, Gerakas and Cholargos.
Their goal is to prevent crime among minors. Over these two days, 136 people were checked, one 17-year-old was detained with a small amount of marijuana. The protests took place in the vicinity of shopping centers, at metro stations, and in places with a high concentration of young people.
The special operation helped collect data and map the movements of teenagers, potential participants in crimes. This information will be the subject of assessment and investigation to develop targeted interventions in areas where there is an increase in juvenile delinquency.
ΕΛ.ΑΣ. notes tells CNN Greece that “similar operations will continue intensively and regularly throughout Attica, with the aim of preventing and combating youth crime.”
