A German couple treated the whole village to food to thank them for saving their house from a fire in Rhodes

A German couple threw a dinner party for an entire village to say “thank you” for saving their home from summer fires on the island of Rhodes.

“A beautiful and touching initiative by a German couple who chose Rhodes as their second home to thank all the residents of the village of Laerma who fought the fire together a few weeks ago and thereby saved their home.”local media reported.

Hans and Maria have been permanent residents of the island for 14 years, and as a result of the devastating fires that hit Rhodes, their home was under threat.

Wanting to thank all the villagers who fought the fire, saving their home as well, they wanted to show their gratitude and decided to invite all the villagers to the tavern at their own expense to have fun together.

In his note, local reporter Nektarios Pokkias briefly interviewed Hans and Maria in Greek and wrote:

“A touching and beautiful initiative by two wonderful people from Germany, Hans and Maria, who have been permanent residents of Laerma for the past 14 years. They invited all residents to have fun at their own expense and wanted to thank them for their help in extinguishing the fire that happened in July near their home. Well done. There is still honor and humanity!”
