Caroline Crouch murder convict drops appeal to commute sentence

Babis Anagnostopoulos, the convicted husband of slain Caroline Crouch, announced through his lawyer on Wednesday that he was dropping his appeal for a lighter sentence.

At the trial court, he was sentenced to life imprisonment plus 11.5 years and a fine of 21,000 euros for cruel the murder of his 20-year-old wife Caroline and their dogs in May 2021, while he staged the whole thing as a burglary.

This means that the pilot, who is on trial in the second degree, will remain with the original sentence of life in prison and an additional 11.5 years in prison, which were unanimously awarded to him by the Joint Jury in May 2022.

Anagnostopoulos’ lawyer, Alexandros Papaioannidis, said in a statement that his client, for extremely serious reasons that were not disclosed, decided to forego all remedies, in particular the appeal he filed against the decision of the Mixed Jury Tribunal in Athens.

In addition, with regard to the question of the national examinations, it is clarified that due to the above events and due to the fact that he is in a very difficult psychological situation, he cannot complete his participation in them and, therefore, will not try to enter higher educational institutions (!)added the lawyer.

Note that Babis Anagnostopoulos previously aspired to pass university entrance examinations and study law. Studying at a university, a favorite feature of refined Greek criminals, which allows them to soften the conditions of imprisonment and reduce the term.

PS It is not known what Anagnostopoulos was really up to, but one thing cannot be taken away from the killer pilot, he manages to remain in the media spotlight very well.
