Blick, Switzerland’s largest newspaper, encourages Swiss and German-speaking travelers to change their habits and prefer remote islands without mass tourism, such as Karpathos.
To this end, the popular media published a list of 8 European islands distinguished by their traditions, unsurpassed natural beauty and “naturalness”. In the ranking of alternative European destinations, Karpathos – the only one from Greece – ranks 5th.
According to the newspaper, “Karpathos is a shining example of authenticity and quality. Delightful blue and white villages, mesmerizing bays, enchanting sunsets and traditional Greek cuisine will leave a lasting impression. Karpathos means endless pleasure!
Blick’s list is completed by Porkerol in France, Ponza in Italy, La Graziosa in the Canary Islands, Gozo in Malta, the British island of Guernsey, Tersling in the Netherlands and Amrum in Germany.
“The information about Karpathos received a very big response in the international media. The island is constantly gaining new fans who come to us from abroad, not counting those who constantly come here every year. This summer we are waiting for tourists from Scandinavia, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria and other countries,” said Manolis Paragios, Deputy Mayor for Tourism of Karpathos Municipality.
