The first summer full moon is about to light up the night sky, offering mesmerizing images. The full moon will be visible in the sky from early Sunday evening (4/6).
The June moon is also called the “strawberry full moon” because this month is the best time to harvest fruits. The full moon will be visible in the night sky from early Sunday evening. The names of the full moons are noted to come from indigenous tribes in the US and Canada, and therefore, according to NASA, the “strawberry moon” was named so by the Algonquian tribe due to the abundance of said fruits in the region in June.
Other names for the June full moon:
- Honeymoon (because honey is ready to be harvested in June)
- Honey moon (because at that time the natives were making mead)
- Rose Moon (because they bloom in June)
- Hot moon (due to high temperatures in the area during the summer months)
- Seed Moon (since this period is recommended for planting some seeds).
