The best “hidden” beaches a few steps away from Athens (video)

Beaches located in Attica or a little further away are “hidden” from the ubiquitous crowds and are great for mini-excursions when the weather is “favorable”.

“Wild” natural landscape and blue inviting water superbly “detach” you from everyday life. You might think that you have gone to some remote island.

These are secluded beaches that few people know about. Here, not far from Athens, you can perfectly relax “from annoying civilization”, which is called “savage”. In addition to the cleanest sea and unique landscape, the places promise you real relaxation away from sunbeds and other “extra”…

C.A.P.E. Beach
Directly before Legrena in the direction of Sounio and after the village of Harakas, there is a hidden beach, which for many years was the great secret of the Athenian lovers of alternative swimming.

First, you will see a large sign that says “Property of C.A.P.E.” Continuing to move in the right direction, turn right. And a little further a second pointer will appear. Leave your car on the plateau and walk a few meters until you reach 99 paved steps that lead you to a charming rocky beach with fine sand and crystal clear blue water. There are no umbrellas, sun loungers and… trees on the beach, so it’s important not to forget your hat! And for a bite to eat, check out the mobile snack bar located right there, where food and drinks are served almost until sunset.

Psapha (Ψάθα).

Between Vilia and Alepochori, at a distance of 66 km from the center of Athens, is Psatha. This is a trip for those who are not afraid to make a long trip to swim in its wonderful crystal clear waters. Its 2.5 km of pebbly coastline allows you to completely relax against the backdrop of the Gulf of Corinth and the charming pine forest of Mount Pateras. The beach is not organized, so it is a magnet for free campers on weekends – a testament to its unique “wild” beauty. Despite its hidden status, it is surrounded by excellent fish taverns and ouzos worth visiting.

Milokopi (Μυλοκοπή)
It belongs to the municipality of Loutraki-Agios Theodoros and is located an hour from Athens and only 20 minutes from Loutraki. It offers an incredible view of the Gulf of Corinth, which combines mountains and sea.. To get here you need four-wheel drive vehicle, as the dirt road leading to it becomes difficult to access. Alternatively, you can leave the car in the forest and walk to the coast on foot. And this process may seem tedious to you, but the natural beauty of Milokopi will reward you generously in the end: the sage that covers the surrounding rocks will bring you the smell of summer. The dense greenery of pine trees that surround the beach, reaching almost to the emerald sea, will serve as a “calm of the eye.” Please note that the beach is unorganized so you will need to stop in Loutraki for supplies.

Altea (Αλθέα, Σκαλάκια)

Just two minutes from the church of Agia Marina is the beach of Skalakia (known as Altea). The picturesque bay is reminiscent of the Cycladic landscape, from the cliffs surrounding it to the sandy shore and crystal turquoise waters. Bathers here usually rest near the rocks, which provide a unique but necessary shade. At the same time, the lack of a large parking space scares away many people, but at the same time provides absolute peace and creates ideal conditions for relaxation.
