Luckily, three Canadian tourists escaped the worst when a huge branch fell on them.
According to local media, three foreigners were sitting on a bench under a tree in the capital’s Zappeion Park. A wonderful evening of relaxation was overshadowed by an event that not only spoiled the mood to walk and breathe fresh air further, but also could well take their lives. A huge bough broke off and fell on a bench, where they stopped to rest from a long walk.
The incident took place around 21:00 on Tuesday, May 30. Two women were slightly injured by a fallen branch, and a third hiker, a man, suffered abrasions. An ambulance arrived at the scene and provided first aid to the tourists, who did not need to be hospitalized.
