Athens is in the top 10 European destinations for Americans, having moved up one position.
Allianz Partners annual review of the top 10 European summer destinations, which shows where Americans plan to go this year, presented our country a pleasant surprise. A travel protection and assistance company has analyzed flight routes for trips lasting five to eight days.
The Greek capital has moved up one position this year to 7th on the list compared to 2022.
“The number of Americans traveling to Europe will increase significantly this year, up nearly 55% from last summer,” Allianz Partners said in a statement.
London remains the dominant destination on the company’s 2023 list with 25% of bookings this year, followed by Paris and Dublin. Rome finished in 4th place, dropping Reykjavik to 5th. Amsterdam has moved up to 8th place, followed by Lisbon. AC Milan climbed to 10th place for the first time in the poll’s history, overtaking the ever-popular Barcelona.
New statistics from Allianz Partners follow last year’s 600 percent increase in American travel to Europe from 2021 to 2022, making it clear that revisiting European favorites and new destinations after years of lockdowns will remain a priority when planning an unforgettable summer vacation.
The company’s data also showed that 80% of Americans visiting Europe this summer will spend seven days on vacation, and 11% are planning a vacation for more than eight days.
