On May Day, all ships in Greece will remain in ports

The 24-hour strike of ΠΝΟ and the rally in the port of Piraeus will leave no chance for the inhabitants of Greece to travel by sea.

Throughout the country, on May Day holidays, ships will be in ports – ΠΝΟ has announced a general strike in honor of this day. The general secretary of the federation, Manolis Tsikalakis, in his announcement of the strike, stated:

“We pay tribute to those who fought and many times gave their lives for the rights of seafarers, as well as all workers on earth.”

He stressed that this year’s Labor Day is particularly marred by the ongoing war in Ukraine with thousands of innocent victims, as well as the civil war raging in recent days in Sudan and other wars in different parts of the world.

Seafarers’ unions announced a 24-hour nationwide strike on Monday on all categories of ships. It will start at 00:01 on Monday May 1 and end at 24:00, at midnight on the same day. Seafarers’ unions will take part in strike rallies in Piraeus at 11:00 am, and picket groups of seafarers will be present in other ports of the country, writes CNN Greece.
