Elections: when schools close

There is very little time left before the elections, and preparations are already underway to turn schools into polling stations.

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced at the last government meeting that national elections will take place on the penultimate Sunday of May, that is, on the 21st of the next month. Thus, in less than a month, the schools, in the classrooms of which ballot boxes will be installed, thought out an action plan (for conversion into polling stations) so that as the election date approaches, everything will be ready so that everything goes smoothly, without excesses.

As Interior Minister Makis Voridis stressed in his speech on ERT, it is expected that schools to close on the Friday before the electionto make the necessary preparations. Besides schools will also remain closed the day after the election. Thus, all schools in Greece will remain closed from Friday May 19 to Monday May 22.

It also became known when educational institutions for children will be closed for summer holidays. The last lessons in kindergartens and primary schools will take place on June 15. In high schools across the country, classes will end on May 30, and exams will be held between June 1 and 15.

In the gymnasium, classes will end on May 18 for all three classes. Then, from May 23 to June 15, exams for lyceum students (1 and 2 years of study) will be held. Exams for students of the 3rd grade of the Lyceum will be held before the start of the Panhellenic State Examinations, from May 23 to 30.
