Cyclone "Or at": Severe weather emergency

National weather service EMY has issued an emergency weather alert as Cyclone ILINA will hit our country hard starting tomorrow, Monday (03.04), and Tuesday (04.04).

The ILINA weather front is characterized by heavy rains and storms, as well as thunderstorms, hail and strong winds.

Rain and storm are expected tomorrow, Monday (04/03/2023):

a) from the morning hours in the Ionian Sea,

b) from noon in Epirus, western Macedonia, western Sterea, western and southern regions of the Peloponnese,

c) from noon in Thessaly, central Macedonia and central Sterea,

d) from noon in eastern Macedonia and gradually until evening hours in Thrace, on the islands of the northern and eastern Aegean and the Dodecanese.

The phenomena of the raging elements in the Ionian Sea, Epirus, western Macedonia, western Sterea, western Peloponnese, Thessaly and central Sterea in the evening hours weaken.

Heavy rains and storms will continue on Tuesday (04-04-2023):

a) until night on the islands of the northern and eastern Aegean and the Dodecanese.

b) before noon in central and eastern Macedonia, Thrace.

c) in the morning hours with breaks in the Cyclades, Crete, southern Evia and southern Peloponnese.

Strong southeasterly winds between 7 and 8 Beaufort will prevail in the eastern Aegean from Monday (03-04-2023) until early Tuesday morning (04-04-2023).

Responsible civil protection officials recommend taking into account the instructions of the General Directorate of Public Health on severe weather events. EMY takes into account all available forecast data and, after evaluating them, issues special forecast and warning bulletins, as well as their corresponding analysis.
