To pay or to endure – that is the question

In Patras, the toilet in the church of St. Andrew became paid. The opinions of the parishioners were divided.

The entrance to the toilet is now blocked by a rotating turnstile, which is activated by tossing a 50-cent coin. The church cantor Αγίου Ανδρέα Spyros Skiadaresis explains:

“It makes sense that the public should be charged a minimum fee for using the toilet, since the temple has a janitor who keeps it clean and the bathroom is open all the time.”

Some parishioners commented negatively on the event, but others reacted with understanding, noting that such a system exists throughout Europe, because toilets have their own costs, informs newsbeast.gr.
