Child benefit: why the application was rejected

Applications from some potential recipients of child support have been denied. Talks about the reasons GUARDIANSHIP – Organization for the provision of benefits and social solidarity.

The main factors for refusals were unresolved tax issues for previous years, “as a result of which the amounts turned out to be overpaid.” The organization’s explanation states:

“During the next calculation of the child allowance for March, and in particular in the context of the calculation of payments for February and March, the applications of some beneficiaries were rejected due to unresolved tax issues for previous years, as a result of which the amounts were unreasonably paid.”

Wherein OPEKA clarifies that the said debt, especially in these cases, is not final – a new processing will follow. Affected citizens are urged not to continue paying any amounts.

OPEKA emphasizes that, in cooperation with ΗΔΙΚΑ, they are making every effort to resolve this issue and states that the above beneficiaries can receive personalized information at the beginning of April through the online application for child allowance.

On March 31, 2023, OPEKA will pay child support to 523,941 recipients for a total cost of EUR 101,258,400.10, writes CNN Greece.
