Andros at the top of the list of 7 best islands in the world

According to Wanderlust Marriage, a website that specializes in highlighting lesser-known travel destinations and read by thousands of US and UK residents, Andros is at the top of the list of the world’s 7 best islands in terms of natural beauty and culture.

The author of the list, who received awards for his work from the Travel Writers Association of North America, traveled with his wife to dozens of places around the world to complete a massive study.

In 2022, he accepted an invitation from the municipality of the Greek island of Andros to visit them in the spring. The trip was organized with the support of CTN Andros network of local professionals. According to the rating, the aforementioned island is an ideal place for an unforgettable “journey” to the enchanting nature, and also has a rich history and cultural monuments.

Thanks to its neoclassical architecture, the city of Andros has a special charm, and Batsi is considered a cosmopolitan fishing village nestled in a beautiful bay and surrounded by green mountains and a sandy coast. From the monastery of Panahrantou (Μονή Παναχράντου), erected on the northern side of Mount Gerakones, a breathtaking view of the whole of Andros opens up. It was originally a chapel that dates back to 960 AD.

“Andros has an invaluable cultural and historical heritage, and is also rich in natural beauties. The island is given top priority even in the off-season. We are expected to have a large number of visitors during Easter,” said Andros Mayor Dimitris Lotsaris.
