March 31 payment of allowances to pensioners

On March 31, the EFKA planned to pay a lump sum (personal difference, επιδόματος προσωπικής διαφοράς) to 1,112,000 pensioners who either did not see a pension increase at all or received a smaller amount.

The other day, a provision on emergency support for pensioners with
personal difference
(προσωπική διαφορά)
who receive low and medium pensions. The allowance in the amount of 200 and 300 euros will be received by about 1 million pensioners, which, as promised, will be paid before the end of the month. A one-time financial assistance of 200-300 euros is set for pensioners who partially (or completely) did not benefit from the 7.75% increase that came into force on January 1, 2023. The benefit applies to all pensioners with ”
personal difference”
and with a basic pension income of up to 1,600 euros per month, i.e. per 1,112,000 pensioners. The amount of assistance depends on the amount of the pension paid and the “personal difference”.

The seven categories of beneficiaries are as follows:

1. Pensioners who have not received any increase and have a basic pension of between 800 and 1,000 euros per month. This is about 120,000 pensioners (5% of the total) with a “personal difference”. They will receive a one-time assistance of 300 euros.
2. Pensioners with a “personal difference”, the only assistance they received in the past period was an extraordinary payment of 250 euros for Christmas. These are 370 thousand low-income pensioners with pensions up to 800 euros per month. They will receive emergency assistance in the amount of 300 euros.
3. Pensioners whose basic pension is between 1,000 and 1,100 euros per month have a “personal difference” and have received only a small increase from the abolition of the special solidarity contribution, which averages 36 euros per year. About 70,000 pensioners will receive emergency assistance in the amount of 300 euros.
4. Pensioners whose basic pension is between 1,100 and 1,600 euros per month have a “personal difference” and have benefited from the abolition of the special solidarity contribution on average about 111 euros per year. There are 300 thousand pensioners, and they will receive 250 euros.
5. Pensioners with a basic pension of up to 1,100 euros per month who received an increase of up to 3.49%. The extraordinary assistance they will receive is 250 euros. This applies to 94 thousand pensioners.
6. Approximately 33,000 pensioners with a basic pension of between 1,101 and 1,600 euros who received a pension increase of up to 3.49%. They will receive assistance in the amount of 200 euros.
7. About 125,000 pensioners who have a pension amount of up to 1,100 euros have seen their pensions increase from 3.5% to 6.99%. They will receive assistance in the amount of 200 euros.

Recall, as Athens News previously wrote, the system of pension payments e-ΕΦΚΑ has completely changed since January 1, 2023, due to an increase in basic pensions by 7.75%.
