An attacker from Volos managed to “clone” the victim’s mobile phone. Thus, he gained access to bank accounts and credit cards of a lawyer, which he did not fail to use.
As it became known, a 23-year-old man was sentenced to 18 months of suspended imprisonment for illegally “emptying” the bank accounts of a human rights activist. According to ERT, the young man first tried to withdraw cash, but failed. Therefore, he made online purchases worth 10,250 euros, including an iPhone.
During the hearing in the criminal court of Volos, it turned out that he managed to “copy, clone” the lawyer’s mobile phone, as a result of which he received additional codes by SMS to approve transactions and complete purchases.
According to the case file, the lawyer saw how his mobile phone seemed to “freeze” for some time. Obviously at this time the offender was making purchases on the Internet, gaining access to the victim’s phone.
