ΟΣΕ paid tens of thousands of euros for drones that turned out to be… "blind"

There is no end to the revelations demonstrating the mismanagement of the Greek railway network. Channel OPEN uncovered two incredible cases of sloppiness and negligence in a major news release.

According to the first incident, which took place in October last year, the drivers of the rolling stock following from Triasio found a burned-out car abandoned in the immediate vicinity of the railway track (almost on the rails). The egregious incident raises questions, for example, how is it possible that no one saw the car and did not say “where to go” ?! But another accident could happen, including with human casualties.

And while copper (cable) thefts from railway networks are happening all over Europe, there are some security measures that everyone shows are not being applied in Greece. Employees ose complained that in October last year, a security company, on a direct order, took care to provide the organization with drones, which, however, for some reason (!) did not work. If they were actually purchased (?), used for their intended purpose (?) and properly functioning, transmitting tracking and shooting data, quadcopters, of course, would have found a burnt car on the railway tracks.

Another incident reported by railway workers concerns a semaphore near Rodopoli, which, on the one hand, does not work, and on the other hand, even if it worked, the drivers could not see it under any circumstances, since the signal is hidden thick tree branches.

In general, “everyone knew everything (and knows), but no one is doing anything.” And passengers have to rely only … on God’s mercy.
