ΕΛΣΤΑΤ: excellent performance in the hospitality and catering sectors


The business activity of accommodation (hospitality) and catering enterprises recorded a strong position in January, which is reflected in the data of the Hellenic Statistical Office ΕΛΣΤΑΤ.

For accommodation establishments (subsection 55 of the NACE Rev.2 classification), data for which are available monthly, the turnover in January 2023 was 82,881,115 euros, an increase of 18.0% compared to January 2022, when the corresponding turnover was 70,236,576 euros.

For food and beverage service businesses (NACE Rev.2 Subsection 56), data available on a monthly basis, turnover in January 2023 was €150,035,185, an increase of 35.7% compared to January 2022 year, when the corresponding turnover was 110,589,611 euros.

Overall, accommodation and catering businesses (Subsections 55 and 56 of the NACE Rev. 2 classification), for which data are available on a monthly basis, had turnover in January 2023 of up to €232,916,299, up 28.8% from from January 2022, when the corresponding turnover was 180,826,187 euros.

For regional units, with a contribution to the total turnover of 2022 of more than 1.0% (table 1), the largest increase in turnover in January 2023 compared to January 2022 was recorded in the Attica region (45.5%), the smallest increase (5 .8%) was recorded in the regional unit Lassithi and a decrease (23.8%) in the regional unit Mykonos.
