Statements by Trump and DeSantis about the need to cut aid to Ukraine, stopping the war, will receive a lot of support after the US drone incident in the Black Sea.
CNN notes:
“Obvious downing American drone Russian fighter jet over the Black Sea is one step closer to the scenario that everyone has feared since war broke out a year ago – a direct clash between US and Russian forces.”
In the latest polls, 80% of Republicans say it’s critical that their party’s presidential nominee actively resist US involvement in a war between Russia and Ukraine. Edition writes:
“Therefore, the two potential GOP candidates with the most votes – former President Donald Trump and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis – are making it clear that if they get to the White House, the lifeline of American arms and ammunition for Ukraine will be in danger, and war could end on Putin’s terms.”
CNN also notes that in the event that the Republicans win the election, “Biden’s promise to stay with Zelensky for as long as necessary may have an expiration date until January 20, 2025 – until the next presidential inauguration.”
