Hellenic Train: buses will carry passengers on certain routes from March 15

Hellenic Train has announced that buses will operate from Wednesday March 15 to transport passengers on certain routes until rail traffic is restored.

Minister of State in charge of infrastructure and transport, Giorgos Gerapetritis, held a new meeting on Monday with rail unions to discuss safely restarting Greece’s rail network following the deadly train collision at Tempi on February 28, until the new ETCS train control and signaling system is put into operation. .

At a meeting with the leadership of the Hellenic Railways Organization (ose) of the railway infrastructure management company ERGOSE and railway service provider Hellenic Train to discuss the “reset” of the railway service in Greece, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis called the restart of the Greek railways “his personal bet”. Among other statements, he said: “Our opponent here is a deep state of anachronism… we must fight the islands that resist modernization, we must fight ourselves.”
