Seven police officers were injured in incidents that took place on Syntagma during big protest rallydedicated to the tragedy in Tempi, while, according to ELAS, there were also six arrests.

As we reported earlier, a group of militants with half-masked faces, presumably from anarchist groups *, attacked the police in the lower part of Syntagma Square with rockets, firecrackers and stones, and the MAT forces responded with chemicals and stun grenades.

Similar clashes also took place in Omonia Square, where the video showed a policeman throwing a grenade into the subway.

The number of demonstrators who were injured and poisoned was not reported. Clashes between police and protesters took place also in Thessaloniki, where members of the KKE and the KNU (analogue of the Komsomol) posted a poster on which, among other things, it was written: “Now the rage will turn back” (τώρα η οργή να γίνει ανατροπή) on the White Tower. MAT fighters arrived at the scene of the protest to remove the banner, but they were prevented by demonstrators at the entrance to the monument. Tensions arose between the MAT and the demonstrators, and at some point riots broke out, accompanied by hand-to-hand fighting. The police used chemicals.

According to local mediatensions began when MAT fighters demanded documents from those who were in the White Tower and hung out a banner. When they refused, the police forcefully pushed back the protesters and applied chemicals.

Two people who report being injured during the fight were taken by an EKAB ambulance to the on-call hospital in Thessaloniki. “It’s a shame that at a time when the blood hasn’t dried yet, the police have to deal with such popular protests.KKE MP Yannis Delis said after leaving the White Tower with other protesters, from where he complains they were banned from leaving.

After it was agreed that the demonstrators would leave at 11:15, after after the banner was removed, the police forbade the exit of everyone who was inside, requesting data on the participants in the mobilization, in fact closing the entrance and exit, for the population, including “, – said the MP.

Mr. Delis gave his details: as the leader of the protest, he said he showed them a parliamentary certificate. At first, only he was released, but he insisted that everyone leave.

* Ideological anarchists deny their participation in such provocations, stating that this is the work of police agents whose goal is to discredit the protesters.
