Hellenic Trains will not operate today March 2nd for 24 hours. The workers of the Athens underground joined the strike.
Due to the 24-hour strike announced by the Panhellenic Federation of Railways, no Hellenic Train will be on the way. In the message Π.Ο.Σ. says:
“The neglect shown by the governments for a long time to the Greek railways has led to a tragic outcome in Tempi. Unfortunately, our constant demands for permanent staffing, better training and, above all, for the application of modern security technologies are constantly thrown into the wastebasket. Today, the Railroad family is poorer. Today Greece is poorer. The next day is a day of reflection and mourning for our fallen colleagues.”
Late Wednesday evening, the Athens Metro Workers’ Union, ΣΕΛΜΑ, went on strike for today, Thursday, March 2, from 6 am to 12 noon. The statement says:
“Our union, together with the whole society, mourns the tragic fatal accident on the Greek railways. Dozens of our fellow citizens died and many were injured on the altar of private profit and the indifference of those responsible. For many years our union has been claiming a huge shortage of spare parts parts, maintenance consumables and a huge shortage of personnel in all occupations related to operation and maintenance, forcing existing personnel to work grueling hours with all the ensuing consequences.Our problems are common to ΟΣΕand anyone who doesn’t recognize it is simply blind. For the reasons above, we want this fatality to be the last. We express our outrage and declare a strike from 06:00 am to 24:00 pm on Thursday 2/03/2023.”
Announcement of ΣΤΑ.ΣΥ.:
“ΣΤΑ.ΣΥ. informs the traveling public that on Thursday, March 2, 2023, metro lines 2 and 3 will not operate from 6 am to midnight, following the decision of the workers’ union to go on strike late on Wednesday evening. Line 1 of the Piraeus – Kifisia metro and the tram will be We apologize in advance to the traveling public for the inconvenience and difficulties they will encounter during their travels.”
The ΣΤΑΣΥ Workers Union announced the suspension of work for today, Thursday March 2, on ΗΣΑΠ. Metro line 1 will not operate from 12:00 to 15:00:
The ΣΤΑΣΥ Workers’ Union had previously announced a shutdown for Thursday 2 February on Metro Line 1 (ΗΣΑΠ). The work stop will be from 12:00 to 15:00. The trade union announced the suspension of work in connection with the holding of an extraordinary general meeting. According to ΣΤΑ.ΣΥ, the last trains will depart from the Kifisia and Piraeus terminals at 11:35, and all stations will reopen for passengers at 14:45, when the first trains depart from the terminals and intermediate stations of line 1.
